Hilary used to make her own clothes
as a teenager and has run sewing workshops in The Bullpen for 4 years. Hilary has lived in Jack Lane Farm for 14 years with her partner Andy and hens. They spent a few years renovating the old farm house (extreme DIY), installing under floor heating and a ground source heat pump. They try to be sustainable and eco minded by planting an orchard and growing their own veg and flowers. Hilary had the great idea to run eco sewing workshops using upcycled fabrics in the old barn called The Bullpen. Andy did a great job renovating the barn so it is warm and light with great views over the Cheshire countryside.
Hilary and Rachel are old friends and have worked together on other projects for a few years. They have both had an interest in sewing for years and Rachel makes beautiful memory quilts out of clothing. She also runs craft workshops in schools. We decided to get together for eco craft and sewing workshops. Rachel runs the patchwork and quilting workshops and has inspired many people to take up quilting.
We use upcycled fabrics such as jeans, shirts and bed linen. These are ideal for novice sewers as they are cotton based, cheap and give people the opportunity to try things out without worrying about ruining expensive fabrics. You can also bring your own fabric if you prefer.
